The Whistling Bee’s Dawn’s Early Light dahlia is a radiant and whimsical variety hybridized by Dawn Hubbell of Whistling Bee Farm in New York's Hudson Valley. Introduced for the 2026 season through the Triple Wren Farms Novice Hybridizer Program, it is celebrated for its sun-like appearance and its exceptional ability to attract pollinators to the garden.
- Color: Magenta / Yellow / Bi-Color. Features vibrant magenta-purple petals that radiate from a glowing yellow center, reminiscent of a summer sunrise. The petals often transition from deep purple to a crisp white at the tips, providing a sparkling contrast.
- Form: Novelty / Single. A winsome, open-centered form with a single row of petals that allows easy access for bees and butterflies. Its delicate appearance belies a sturdy structure that holds its petals remarkably well when cut.
- Bloom Size: Small. The dainty and shimmering blooms typically measure approximately 3.5 inches (9 cm) in diameter.
- Height: Tall. A statuesque grower that reaches a height of 40 to 54 inches (100–135 cm). It produces solid, upright stems that support the prolific display of flowers.
- Performance: Outstanding Pollinator Magnet & Cut Flower. Specifically bred to balance beauty with ecological benefits, this variety is a "magnet" for beneficial insects. It is highly productive, pumping out a continuous supply of flowers on strong stems with a remarkable vase life, making it a favorite for "sparkling" floral arrangements.
