Shipping has commenced. I am hoping to ship majority of orders in the first two weeks of April. Note that having cuttings in your order will delay your tuber shipment.
Orders can ship as late as May depending on your weather and/or your order includes varieties that poses challenges in rooting or sprouting.
Welcome
Thank you for visiting Makayla’s Meadow!About the gardener
I am a backyard grower in Victoria, BC.
The Garden City!
I’ve always had a fascination with nature and a
love for growing things.
But my interest in growing flowers started
when my daughter -
you guessed it, her name is Makayla, was born.
Since then, I have observed, researched and
listened.
I have tried, made mistakes and tried again.
All of which led to success. Here I am now with about 600 cultivars of dahlias
And I can’t wait to share my extras with you!
DahliasMy passion begins by placing a seed, tuber, corm or bulb in the soil.
And it continues in the quiet joy of nurturing it into bloom.
Each plant is a gift - of beauty and colour.
And it would gives me the greatest pleasure to share these gifts far and wide
My hope is that you will welcome them into your garden. As a gardener, I’m aware that bacteria,
viruses, fungal infection, and pests can
damage our beloved plants at any time.
Here are the things I do to avoid these
threats in my stock:
I choose Canadian suppliers and
support small backyard growers.
I sanitize my tools are sanitized
between contact with plants.
I culled plants that show signs of
diseases.
How I care for my plantsHow I care for the planet
My garden is pollinator friendly.
I know there is a risk of bees and butterflies
spreading disease, but I think the potential harm is
outweighed by the benefits to the environment.
Besides, you should see them buzz and bob around
my backyard!
