The Westerton Pearl dahlia is an exquisite and highly-regarded variety hybridized by the late Gordon Hodgson in the UK and introduced around 2017. It is celebrated for its impeccable exhibition-grade form and soft, glowing color palette—making it a "must-grow" for both competitive show benches and high-end floral design.
- Color: Pink (PK). A lovely, soft pink often described as a "guava" tone, featuring glowing golden hearts at the center of each petal and finished with a tiny touch of pale yellow at the tips for extra sparkle. The color can deepen to a slightly smoky pink during the summer and fade to softer tones in the fall.
- Form: Ball (BA). Features a tight, perfectly symmetrical spherical bloom with a very high petal count and neatly arranged petals. ADS Classification: 6004
- Bloom Size: Small (BB). Blooms are typically between 3.5 to 4 inches (9–10 cm) in diameter, offering a uniform and refined appearance
- Height: Tall. A vigorous grower that typically reaches 4.5 to 5 feet (140–150 cm) tall, though some sources list a more compact range of 2.5 to 3.5 feet depending on growing conditions.
- Performance: Highly Productive Cut Flower. Praised as a "bloom machine," this variety is a prolific producer of long, strong stems with excellent bloom attachment. It is highly valued by cut flower growers for its reliable performance throughout the season and its exceptional suitability for market bouquets and wedding work.
