The Valley Tawny dahlia is a radiant and versatile variety introduced by David and Leone Smith in 2007. It is celebrated for its dynamic, sun-kissed coloring, strong growth, and show-worthy blooms—making it a perfect workhorse for both cutting gardens and floral design.\

  • Color: Bronze (BR) / Peach-Amber. A rich, luminous blend of tawny amber, peach, and golden honey. The blooms often display a "muddy" or burnished bronze towards the stem and can shift from pale apricot to a deeper golden orange throughout the season.
  • Form: Formal Decorative (FD) or Ball (BA). While officially classified by the ADS as a Formal Decorative, it is widely recognized by growers for its tight, symmetrical, and nearly spherical shape that often mimics a ball form. ADS Classification: 3011.
  • Bloom Size: Small (BB). Blooms typically range from 3.5 to 5 inches (approx. 9–12.5 cm) in diameter, though they are often described as reaching up to 6 inches in ideal conditions.
  • Height: Tall. A vigorous grower that typically reaches 3.5 to 5 feet (105–150 cm) tall.
  • Performance: Highly Productive Cut Flower. Praised as a "garden workhorse" and one of the most prolific bloomers available, it produces long, sturdy stems and holds its color and form exceptionally well even in high heat.
