The Sourire de Crozon (translated as "Smile of Crozon") dahlia is a classic, heirloom French variety. Hybridized by Laurent in 1976 and named after a village in Brittany, it is cherished for its luminous, romantic appearance and its historical significance in dahlia breeding.
- Color: Dark Pink (DP) / Deep Raspberry. A saturated, rich raspberry-pink that often displays subtle purple or magenta hints. The color is remarkably vivid and holds its intensity well even in bright sun.
- Form: Waterlily (WL). Features broad, symmetrical, and slightly cupped petals that create an open, graceful bloom reminiscent of a floating waterlily.
- Bloom Size: Small (BB). Blooms typically measure between 4 to 6 inches (10–15 cm) in diameter, offering a perfectly sized flower for both the garden and the vase.
- Height: Medium to Tall. Generally reaches about 4 to 4.5 feet (120–140 cm) tall. It maintains a reliable, upright stance, which is ideal for tighter garden spaces.
- Performance: Extremely Prolific and Reliable. Known as an "effortless" producer that continues to bloom from midsummer until frost. While its long stems can occasionally be slightly "wonky" or wirey, its sheer volume of buds and blooms makes it a garden favorite
