Sandia Ruthie is a watermelon-coral stunner introduced in 2024 by Steve and Sandy Boley of Birch Bay Dahlias (US).
Characteristics:
Form: Stellar (ST) — Petals are long, narrow, slightly recurved, and often creased, giving the bloom a unique, slightly spiky, star-like appearance.
Color: Watermelon-Coral / Dark Pink (DP) — The color is often described as a vibrant blend of rose lipstick pink and peachy/coral streaking, sometimes fading to creamy peach tips as the bloom ages.
Bloom Size: Medium (BB/M) to Small (M) — Typically measures around 5 inches in diameter, which puts it in the small to medium range.
Height: Medium to Tall — Grows robustly to about 3.5 to 5 feet (1.1–1.5 meters) tall.
Performance:
- Known for being an extremely prolific bloomer with strong, long stems, making it an excellent cut flower. It won The Derrill W. Hart medal in 2024.
- One of the earliest bloomers in the garden. Exceptionally prolific with an open habit that encourages airflow and styling ease. Excellent tuber producer—ideal for growers and designers alike.
Please note that the listing is for one tuber.
