The Sandia Cancan dahlia is a whimsical and high-contrast variety that brings a festive, energetic feel to any collection. Introduced by legendary hybridizers Steve and Sandy Boley in 2023, it is prized for its intricate patterns and reliable waterlily form, making it a standout for those who love "speckled" or variegated flowers.
- Color: Variegated (V). A striking combination of lavender and purple. The base is often a soft lavender-pink (LV13), heavily splashed and streaked with bold, dark purple (PR26) markings, ensuring that no two blooms look exactly alike.
- Form: Waterlily (WL). Features elegant, broad petals that are slightly cupped, creating a symmetrical and layered look reminiscent of a floating waterlily.
- Bloom Size: Small (BB). Blooms typically measure between 3 and 4 inches (7.5–10 cm) in diameter, a perfect size for adding texture and detail to bouquets.
- Height: Medium. Grows to a manageable height of approximately 3 to 4 feet (90–120 cm). Its sturdy habit makes it suitable for both the middle of a garden border and container planting.
- Performance: Eye-Catching Garden & Cut Flower. Known for being a consistent and healthy producer. Its unique variegation doesn't fade easily in the sun, and its strong stems make it a delightful, "fancy" addition to fresh-cut arrangements.
