The Ruthie G dahlia is a timeless heirloom variety that remains a beloved staple in cutting gardens for its glowing, ethereal charm. Introduced by Larry Bateman in 1978, this classic American variety is celebrated for its soft, romantic hues and a resilient, "rock-solid" growth habit that has kept it popular with florists and home gardeners for nearly 50 years.
- Color: Pink / Yellow (Light Blend). A luminous shell-pink that radiates a soft, golden glow from the center. Its petals possess a delicate translucence, often appearing to shift from a warm cream to a vibrant blush depending on the angle of the light.
- Form: Waterlily (WL). Features layers of broad, flat, and slightly cupped petals that mimic the elegant, floating look of a pond lily. ADS Classification: 7310.
- Bloom Size: Small (BB). Flowers are typically 4 to 5 inches (10–12 cm) in diameter—a perfectly versatile size that is substantial enough for focal work but light enough for mixed bouquets.
- Height: Tall. A vigorous grower that reaches 4 to 5 feet (120–150 cm). It creates a lush, branching plant that provides a continuous canopy of color throughout the season.
-
Performance: Exceptional Cut Flower. Renowned for its long, strong stems and incredible productivity. It is a reliable workhorse that "cuts and comes again" with vigor, holding its delicate shape and vibrant color beautifully in the vase.
