The Robin Hood dahlia is a timeless and charming variety introduced by Gordon Littlejohn in 1987. It is highly regarded for its warm, sunset-inspired tones and consistent performance, making it a reliable staple for both home gardeners and cut-flower enthusiasts.
- Color: Dark Blend (DB) / Coral-Orange. A rich, complex blend of coral, peach, and apricot, often featuring raspberry pink or cherry-red undertones. The coloring is dynamic, frequently shifting in intensity and saturation as the weather cools throughout the season.
- Form: Ball (BA). A perfectly structured, dense bloom with neatly cupped petals that create a symmetrical, spherical shape. ADS Classification: 6013.
- Bloom Size: Miniature to Small (M/BA). Blooms typically range from 3 to 4 inches (7.5–10 cm) in diameter, offering a versatile size for mixed bouquets.
- Height: Medium to Tall. Reaches a mature height of approximately 3.5 to 4.5 feet (105–135 cm). Its upright growth habit generally requires staking to support its heavy production.
- Performance: High-Yielding Workhorse. Known for being an exceptionally prolific bloomer with a long harvest window. It produces long, strong stems and has an excellent vase life, making it a favorite "cut-and-come-again" variety for floral designers.
