RM Tarnished Dahlia is a moody formal decorative variety introduced in 2024 by River Merle Farm.
Characteristics:
Form: Formal Decorative (FD). It has flat, smooth petals in a regular arrangement, giving it a neat, symmetrical look.
Color: A complex blend of rusty, terra cotta, bronze orange/coral, and salmon-apricot hues with a green center early in the season. As temperatures drop, the center closes and the tones deepen, creating a “tarnished” effect that shifts with light and climate.
Bloom Size: Miniature (M), typically 3 to 4 inches (approx. 7.5 to 10 cm).
Height: 3 to 4 feet (approx. 90 to 120 cm), with strong stems and an open habit that encourages airflow.
Performance:
Versatile Color: The blending of terra cotta and rusty hues is highly popular for wedding work and adds a sophisticated, "vintage vibe" to arrangements.
Performance: It is reported to be an excellent tuber producer and blooms consistently throughout the season.
Stem Quality: It possesses good stem length and a desirable plant habit for cutting.
