The Rancho dahlia is a vibrant and glowing variety introduced by Ernest Turc in 1983. It is celebrated for its warm, sculptural blooms and sturdy growth, making it a standout choice for summer borders and a reliable favorite for sun-drenched cutting gardens.
- Color: Orange / Apricot / Yellow. A radiant blend of warm apricot-orange and golden-yellow, often featuring a soft copper or salmon-pink blush. As the bloom matures, the colors often mellow into a soft, warm salmon gradient.
- Form: Waterlily (WL). Features broad, layered, and slightly cupped petals that create an open-faced, sculptural look reminiscent of a waterlily. ADS Classification: WL.
- Bloom Size: Small to Medium (BB/B). Blooms typically range from 4 to 6 inches (10–15 cm) in diameter, though some can reach up to 8 inches in ideal conditions.
- Height: Medium to Tall. Grows to approximately 3 to 4 feet (90–120 cm) tall. Due to its height and prolific blooming, staking is highly recommended.
- Performance: Reliable and Early Producer. Known as a "workhorse" for its long stems and exceptional vase life of 6–8 days. It is an early bloomer that continues to produce an abundance of flowers until the first frost.
