Papageno Dahlia is a dramatic, "dinner plate" sized Informal Decorative variety introduced in 1972 by the Ballego Nursery in the Netherlands. 

Characteristics:

Form: Informal Decorative (ID)—The ray florets (petals) are typically broad, slightly flat, but are often twisted, curled, or wavy, giving the bloom a more shaggy, relaxed, or "informal" look compared to the Formal Decorative type.

Color: Light Blend (LB)—The massive blooms display a harmonious, luminous blend of warm colors, often described as a smoky peach or apricot/pink with lemon-yellow or golden accents toward the center.

Bloom Size: Giant (AA)—This is a true "dinner plate" dahlia, with blooms measuring 10 to 12 inches (25–30 cm) in diameter.

Height: Medium-sized plants, reaching about 3.5 feet (105 cm), with strong stems and excellent foliage.

Performance: Best harvested when three-quarters open for optimal vase life (about 5 days). A showstopper in the garden, 'Papageno' is a must-grow for those seeking huge, dramatic blooms. Its unique color blend is highly sought after by floral designers for large arrangements, offering an excellent contrast of size and soft, complex color.
