The Louie Meggos dahlia is a massive and majestic variety hybridized by Steve Meggos in the USA and introduced in 2008. A mutation (sport) of the legendary variety Spartacus, it is highly sought after for its "dinner plate" scale and elegant, cloud-like presence in the garden.
- Color: White (W) / Cream. A pristine, luminous creamy white that occasionally shows soft yellow or ivory highlights deep within the center of the bloom.
- Form: Informal Decorative (ID). Features lush, voluminous petals that are slightly recurved or wavy, giving the flower a relaxed and opulent silhouette.
- ADS Classification: 1101 (Large Informal Decorative, White).
- Bloom Size: Large (A). These giant "dinner plate" blooms typically range from 8 to 10 inches (20–25 cm) in diameter.
- Height: Tall. A stately plant that consistently reaches 4 to 5 feet (120–150 cm) in height and requires heavy staking to support its massive flowers.
- Performance: Show-Stopping Exhibition Variety. Praised for its incredible size and architectural beauty, it is a frequent winner on the exhibition bench and serves as a spectacular focal point in large floral installations
