Lee’s Kewpie Dahlia is bred by farmer-florist Lee Hemmings Carlton, this variety is part of the “Barely There” collection.
Characteristics:
Form:Â Miniature Ball (MB): Blooms are dense, fully double, spherical, and tightly packed with involute (rolled) petals.
Color: Bicolor (BI) or Light Blend (LB): A creamy-white blush over a warm base.
The palest warm blush imaginable, with a base of soft orange that gives the bloom a gentle golden glow. Some blooms show subtle white tipping, which can vary depending on day length and temperature.
Bloom Size: Miniature Ball (MB): Blooms are dense, fully double, spherical, and tightly packed with involute (rolled) petals.
Height: Medium — typically grows 2.5 to 3 feet (75–90 cm).
Performance:
- Designer Favorite: Its perfect mini ball form and delicate, subtle color make it ideal for wedding work and high-end floral arrangements.
- Variability: As a Bicolor/Blend type, the intensity of the color and the degree of the blush/tipping may fluctuate based on growing conditions like temperature and day length.
