The Lee’s Ellis dahlia is a wildly fun and textural variety introduced by Lee Hemmings Carlton of Goldenrod Gardens in 2022. It’s celebrated for its unique "watermelon slice" appearance, fringed petals, and exceptional versatility in floral design—perfect for adding movement and juicy color to high-end bouquets.
- Color: Pink (PK) / Smoky Coral. A layered and saturated blend of smoky coral, matte salmon, and rosy watermelon tones. The color is often compared to a more textured and vibrant version of the popular 'KA’s Coral Sea'.
- Form: Laciniated (LC). A distinctive decorative form featuring split or fringed petal tips that create a swirled, ruffled texture. ADS Classification: LC (Laciniated).
- Bloom Size: Miniature (M). Blooms are consistently sized around 3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter, making them an ideal "filler" or accent for market bouquets.
- Height: Tall. A vigorous grower that typically reaches 4 to 5.5 feet (120–165 cm) tall depending on growing conditions.
- Performance: Florist-Quality Workhorse. Specially bred with floral artists in mind, it produces long, thin, yet strong stems that are highly productive throughout the season. It is also noted for being an excellent tuber producer.
