The Le Thoureil dahlia (often spelled Le Thouriel) is an exquisite and rare variety hybridized by Ernest TURC in France. Named after a charming village on the banks of the Loire, it is a highly sought-after "elusive" variety for collectors, celebrated for its romantic, watercolor-like color transitions and compact, garden-friendly habit.

  • Color: Pale Pink / Mauve. Features a creamy white to soft pink base with subtle mauve or light purple tips that can shift to a more vibrant purple early in the season before fading to pastel pink in the autumn.
  • Form: Dwarf Decorative (Dwarf FD). A symmetrical, fully double bloom with broad, flat-tipped petals and striking dark-colored stems that provide a beautiful contrast.
  • ADS Classification: Miniature/Small Decorative (European classification: Decorative Dwarf).
  • Bloom Size: Small (BB/M). Blooms typically reach approximately 4 to 4.5 inches (11 cm) in diameter.
  • Height: Short / Dwarf. A compact and bushy variety that reaches about 2.5 to 3 feet (70–90 cm) tall, making it ideal for the front of borders or large containers.
  • Performance: Floriferous and Easy-to-Manage. Known for its continuous and heavy flowering throughout the season and its ability to produce healthy tubers, though its shorter stature makes it better suited for garden display than for commercial cut flowers.
