Kelsey Annie Joy Dahlia is a collarette variety adored for its radiant coloring and playful petal structure.
Hybridizer: Colin Walker (Introduced in 2013 in the USA).
Characteristics:
Form: Collarette (CO). This distinct form features a single outer row of broad, flat petals (ray florets), with an inner ring, or "collar," of shorter, ruffled petals, all surrounding an open center disk. This open structure is why it is often cited as being beneficial for pollinators like bees and butterflies.
Color: A vibrant and variable blend of sunset colors, often described as an Orange Collarette (by the American Dahlia Society). The outer petals are typically Peach and/or Soft Yellow/Gold, while the inner collar is a contrasting, Frilly Pink. The center of the bloom is a cheerful Orange or Yellow button. The specific color combination can vary based on growing conditions.
Bloom Size: Miniature to Small (M), with flowers measuring about 3 to 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter.
Height: A medium-height plant, generally reaching 24 to 48 inches (60–120 cm) tall, depending growing conditions.
Performance: It is an American Dahlia Society (ADS) award winner and an RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Plants for Pollinators selection.
