The Jessie G dahlia a classic and exceptionally hardy variety, renowned as a "workhorse" for flower farmers and a staple for moody, romantic floral designs. Introduced by Les Connell in 1994, it remains a show-worthy favorite for its deep, velvety tones and incredible productivity.
- Color: Purple (PR) / Dark Red. A rich, moody burgundy-plum that can shift between chocolate and deep wine tones with subtle purple undertones. The velvety petals often feature a soft gradient that glows in the light.
- Form: Ball (BA). A perfectly round, symmetrical sphere with tightly rolled petals that resist sunburning and flagging. ADS Classification: 6009.
- Bloom Size: Miniature (M). The blooms are typically 3 to 4 inches (7.5–10 cm) in diameter, making them a versatile size for market bouquets and wedding work
- Height: Tall. An vigorous grower that reaches approximately 4 to 5.5 feet (120–165 cm) tall, often requiring sturdy support.
- Performance: Highly Productive Cut Flower. Celebrated for its long, strong stems and relentless blooming habit from midsummer until the first frost. It is noted for an excellent vase life and is often used to bridge the gap between burgundy and purple palettes in professional arrangements.
