The HY Patti dahlia is a spectacular and bold variety introduced by Canadian hybridizer Wayne Holland in 2006. It is a favorite among florists and designers for its warm, coppery tones and exceptionally strong stems, often serving as a radiant focal point in late-summer arrangements.
- Color: Orange (OR) / Bronze. A luminous, coppery-orange with an ombre effect that transitions through pink, bronze, and persimmon tones. Early-season and cool-weather blooms tend to be pinker, while mature flowers develop deep, metallic bronze accents.
- Form: Formal Decorative (FD). Features broad, flat petals that are perfectly placed in a symmetrical, regular arrangement, often recurving slightly toward the stem. ADS Classification: 2003.
- Bloom Size: Medium (B). Blooms are substantial and typically measure between 6 to 8 inches (15–20 cm) in diameter.
- Height: Tall. A vigorous grower that reaches a mature height of approximately 4 to 5 feet (120–150 cm) in the field.
- Performance: Prolific Cut Flower. Noted for its "tons of flowers" and upward-facing blooms on long, weather-resistant stems. It is considered a significant upgrade over older orange varieties due to its superior stem strength and consistent productivity.
