Hollyhill Pinkie is an older, classic variety from the same hybridizers, Ted and Margaret Kennedy (Hollyhill Dahlias) in the USA, introduced in 2005.

Characteristics:

Form: Laciniated (LC). This is a unique and sought-after form where the petals are split or fringed at the tips, giving the bloom a fluffy, feathered, or "tousled" appearance.

Color: Light Blend (LB) - Pink/Lavender/White Bicolor. The color is complex, delicate, and often described as whimsical:

  • The base petals are typically a soft candy pink or pale pink, fading toward a lighter center.
  • The distinctive feature is the darker coloring on the fringed tips, often described as a darker pink, purple, or lavender picotée (a contrasting edge, like "lipliner").
  • Some descriptions also note a splash of yellow in the center, contributing to the light blend classification. The overall effect is charming and multi-toned.

Bloom Size: Miniature (M) to Small (BB), typically around 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter, right at the miniature size limit.

Height: A dependable, mid-sized plant, usually growing to 3 to 4 feet (90–120 cm) tall.

Performance:

  • Cut Flower Quality: Highly valued as a cut flower due to its excellent, unique texture (the laciniated petals) and its delicate, complex color blend. It's known for being a productive and reasonably early bloomer, providing a steady supply of these charming flowers throughout the season.
  • Vase Life: Performs well in the vase, and its texture adds significant visual interest to bouquets and arrangements. The blooms are also noted for being quite weather-proof for its form.
  • Garden Use: A popular variety for the cutting garden and a delightful, whimsical addition to a border where its fringed texture can contrast nicely with flatter-petaled varieties.
