Hollyhill Miss White Dahlia is another award-winning gem from Ted and Margaret Kennedy (Hollyhill Dahlias), introduced in 2016. This variety is a highly popular and reliable choice for growers needing a perfect white flower.
Characteristics:
Form: Miniature Ball (MB). Like 'Hollyhill Pollyanna', it has the signature Ball shape: a compact, fully double, spherical bloom with tightly rolled petals. This form is ideal for durability.
Color: White (W) with a slight Lavender blush. While officially classified as White, its unique charm comes from its subtle dual tone:
- The bloom is a perfect, clear white overall.
- The center, or "button," often has the palest hint of lavender or light purple blush. This subtle coloring can sometimes deepen slightly as the season progresses.
Bloom Size: Miniature Ball (MB), typically ranging from 2 to 3.5 inches (5 to 9 cm) in diameter.
Height: A surprisingly tall and vigorous plant, often reaching 3 to 5 feet (90–150 cm) or even higher in rich soil, making it excellent for long cutting stems.
Performance:
- Cut Flower Quality: 'Hollyhill Miss White' is considered one of the best white mini balls for cutting. It is noted for its super strong, long stems and its ability to produce a constant "sea of perfectly formed flowers" all season long. It is a workhorse, particularly suited for high-end floral design and wedding work.
- Vase Life: The dense Miniature Ball form gives it an exceptional vase life, adding to its value for florists.
