Hollyhill Jitterbug

Hollyhill Loverboy is a cheerful and productive dahlia from Ted and Margaret Kennedy (Hollyhill Dahlias), introduced in 2016.

Characteristics:

Form: Semi-Cactus (SC). The petals are slightly rolled or quilled (less than half their length) and pointed, giving the bloom a dynamic, spiky, yet graceful appearance.

Color: Orange (OR) / Light Blend (LB) - Soft Peach, Apricot, and Honey. This dahlia is loved for its complex and versatile "sunset palette":

• It is often described as a creamy orange, soft peachy apricot, or creamsicle.
• The petals may start with yellow tips and transition to a soft peach or honey blend as they mature, giving it a soft glow.
• It is considered a beautiful neutral in floral arrangements due to its buff and apricot tones.

Bloom Size: Small (BB) to Medium, typically ranging from 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 cm) in diameter.

Height: A tall and robust plant, generally growing to 4.5 to 6 feet (135–180 cm) tall.

Performance: 

• Cut Flower Quality: 'Hollyhill Jitterbug' is widely regarded as a terrific cut flower and a "blooming machine." It is one of the most prolific dahlias many growers cultivate, known for providing a consistent harvest of blooms with strong, long stems throughout the season. Its highly floriferous nature makes it a favourite for market growers.
• Vigor: It is a vigorous grower and a reliably strong performer in the garden.
• Awards: Like several other 'Hollyhill' varieties, 'Hollyhill Jitterbug' is an award winner, having earned the prestigious Derrill W. Hart Medal from the American Dahlia Society (ADS).
