The Hillier Tanunda dahlia is a breathtaking and high-performing variety bred by Vin and Julie Charlton in South Australia in 1995. It is a florist favorite, cherished for its "glowing" warmth and romantic, on-trend color palette that serves as a versatile workhorse in many floral designs.
- Color: Pink (PK) / Salmon. Features beautiful salmon-pink blooms with subtle yellow or gold streaking coming through from the base of the petals. The color is dynamic, often appearing as a luminous blend of cerise, salmon, and cream with a concentrated, darker center.
- Form: Formal Decorative (FD) or Miniature Ball. Often classified as a miniature or small formal decorative with a high petal count and evenly formed, layered structure. ADS Classification: 3004.
- Bloom Size: Miniature or Small (M/BB). Refined blooms typically measure between 3 to 4.5 inches (7.5–11 cm) in diameter.
- Height: Medium to Tall. Reaches a mature height of approximately 3.5 to 5 feet (100–150 cm) on an upright, vigorous plant.
- Performance: Prolific Cut Flower. Renowned as a "farmer favorite" for being an early and aggressive bloomer that continues until frost. It is highly productive, yielding masses of flowers on long, sturdy, and straight stems with an excellent vase life of around 5 days.
