Glenmarc Margaret is a sought-after and reliable dahlia, prized for its excellent growing habit and its luminous, soft coloring. Bred in Australia by Alf Hardingham, it is a versatile performer that provides a touch of cool elegance to any garden or floral arrangement.

Characteristics:

Form: Miniature Formal Decorative (M-FD) / Small Decorative (S-D) — The blooms are highly uniform and tightly petalled, creating a dense, symmetrical form. Its refined, smaller structure makes it an ideal filler and texture element in bouquets.

Colour: Soft Lavender Pink / Mauve Blend (MB) — The color is its most endearing trait—a cool, clean, and gentle hue:

  • Main Hue: A delicate, cool lavender or soft mauve-pink.
  • Accents: It features a striking white or pale center and reverse (the back of the petals), which adds complexity and luminosity, making the overall bloom appear brighter and more luminous.
  • Growth Shift: Some growers note a unique shift where the center starts white and opens up to the purple/lavender tone.

Bloom Size: Small (BB) / Miniature (M) — Blooms are consistently sized around 3 to 4 inches (7.5–10 cm) in diameter.

Height: Tall, often reaching between 4 and 5.5 feet (120–170 cm).

Performance: A must-have for the cut flower farmer. It is known for its vigorous, tall plant habit, long, strong stems, and exceptional productivity. Its unique color blends beautifully with both cool and warm floral palettes, ensuring it's a staple for high-end arrangements and a frequent award winner in shows.
