Gateshead Festival was introduced in 1990 by Howes, a UK hybridizer.
Characteristics:
Form: It is classified as a "Small Dec" (Small Decorative) or "Small Formal Decorative." Formal Decorative (FD) petals are flat, broad, and smoothly arranged in a regular, symmetrical pattern.
Color: The color is a blend that starts with orange/lemon and matures to a soft salmon/cream, or peach, pale orange, and pale yellow. This combination of lighter tints and tones fits the ADS classification for Light Blend (LB).
Bloom Size: It is widely described as a "Small Decorative," which falls into the BB (Small) size category, having blooms between 4 and 6 inches in diameter.
Height: Upright grower, reaching about 4 feet (120 cm).
Performance: A vigorous and free-flowering variety with a good, formal structure, making it highly valued as a cut flower with a good vase life and a strong contender for dahlia shows (exhibition). Its warm, blended colors are excellent for creating autumnal and mixed bouquets.
