The Frost Nip dahlia is a seductively beautiful and flamboyant variety that earns its name from its distinctive "iced" appearance. It is celebrated for its massive, dinnerplate blooms and contrasting dark stems, making it a dramatic focal point for both late-summer garden displays and high-impact floral arrangements.
- Color: Raspberry / White. A rich raspberry-pink to reddish-pink base with "ice-cool" white edges and tips that gleam in the sun. Some variations may lean toward a salmon-coral or bronze-orange hue depending on growing conditions.
- Form: Decorative (D). A fully double bloom with broad, flat, or slightly wavy petals that twirl and twist, providing a plush, velvety texture.
- Bloom Size: A (Large) / Dinnerplate. Impressive flowers typically measure 8 to 10 inches (20–25 cm) in diameter, often described as "gigantic".
- Height: Tall. An upright, bushy grower that reaches 3 to 4.5 feet (90–135 cm) tall.
- Performance: Showstopping Garden Queen. A prolific bloomer from midsummer until the first frost. It is highly regarded as a cut flower due to its strong, dark plum stems and eye-catching color contrast.
