Formby Monarch

The Formby Monarch dahlia is a majestic and highly sought-after Australian variety bred by George Harding in Tasmania in the mid-1980s. It is widely considered a champion exhibition flower, prized for its "dinnerplate" presence and vintage-inspired color palette that provides a soft, sophisticated glow in any setting. 

• Color: Pink (PK) / Salmon. A stunning, soft dusty pink or watermelon-pink with subtle salmon tones. The blooms often feature delicate gold tips at the center, giving the flower a "jewel-like" radiance.
• Form: Large Decorative (LD). A fully double, broad-petaled bloom that creates a lush and symmetrical head. It is often classified as Informal Decorative due to its slightly relaxed, wavy petal arrangement.
• Bloom Size: A (Large). Massive blooms that typically range from 8 to 10 inches (21–25 cm) in diameter, comfortably sitting in the "dinnerplate" category.
• Height: Medium to Tall. A vigorous, upright plant that reaches approximately 3.5 to 5 feet (105–150 cm) tall.
• Performance: Exhibition-Quality Showstopper. Renowned as a "champion winner" on the show bench, it is equally loved by home gardeners for its prolific blooming. Due to the sheer weight of its enormous flowers, it requires heavy staking and support to keep the stems upright.
