The Ferncliff Rusty dahlia is an award-winning, "moody" variety hybridized by David Jack of Ferncliff Gardens in British Columbia, Canada. Introduced in 2019, it quickly became an exhibition favorite, winning 19 awards in 2022 alone and earning a spot on the "Cream of the Crop" list for its impeccable form and unique vintage coloring.

  • Color: Rusty Rose / Orange. A complex and difficult-to-describe blend of dusty rose, warm coral, and deep apricot with a dark plum center. The colors often shift from raspberry to orange with a warm, rusty undertone as the light and season change.
  • Form: Ball (BA). A perfectly rounded, geometric bloom with tight, uniform petals that reflex towards the stem. ADS Classification: 6011 (Orange Ball).
  • Bloom Size: Miniature Ball / Small. Uniform flowers typically measure 3 to 3.5 inches (7–9 cm) in diameter.
  • Height: Tall. A sturdy, upright grower that reaches approximately 3.5 to 4.5 feet (105–135 cm) tall.
  • Performance: Exceptionally Floriferous Workhorse. Known as a prolific, early bloomer that "don't stop" from the start of the season until the first frost. It produces long, strong, dark-colored stems and has an excellent vase life, making it a staple for fall-themed floral designs.
