The Ferncliff Copper dahlia is an exceptionally beautiful and versatile variety introduced by David Jack in 1990. Celebrated for its unique, artistically "brushed-on" coloring and robust stems, it is a highly awarded exhibition dahlia that is equally prized as a "must-grow" for floral designers.
- Color: Bronze (BR). A warm, radiant blend of coppery-orange, peach, and coral, often accented with soft yellow highlights and pink undertones that shift beautifully as the bloom matures.
- Form: Formal Decorative (FD). Features flat, uniformly arranged petals that create a symmetrical, high-centered bloom. Despite its classification, it often has a dense structure that resembles a large ball. ADS Classification: 3011
- Bloom Size: Small (BB). Flowers are typically between 4 to 6 inches (10–15 cm) in diameter, offering a substantial and showy presence.
- Height: Tall. A vigorous grower that typically reaches 4.5 to 5.5 feet (140–170 cm) tall, requiring staking to support its prolific bloom load.
- Performance: Productive Exhibition & Cut Flower. Renowned for being a "workhorse" that produces a steady supply of long, sturdy stems and holds its vibrancy well after cutting, with a reliable vase life of approximately 5 days.
