Ferncliff Apricot dahlia is a stunning and vibrant variety introduced by hybridizer David Jack of Ferncliff Gardens in 2021. It is a standout in the garden for its intense, "fire-and-ice" ombré effect and impressive architectural height—a favorite for creating bold, warm-toned focal points in both landscapes and large-scale arrangements.

  • Color: Orange (OR) / Intense Apricot. Features deep, saturated orange blooms that often transition from a soft, peachy outer glow to a fiery, concentrated apricot center. The color is famously dynamic, appearing lighter and more variable in the early season while deepening into a rich, burnt orange as the weather cools.
  • Form: Informal Decorative (ID). Characterized by long, recurved petals that twist and roll backward toward the stem, giving the flower a deep, nearly spherical, or baseball-like appearance. ADS Classification: 3103 (Small Informal Decorative Orange).
  • Bloom Size: Small (BB). Typically produces showy blooms measuring 4 to 5 inches (10–12.5 cm) in diameter.
  • Height: Tall. A vigorous grower that reaches a commanding height of 4 to 5 feet (120–150 cm).
  • Performance: Vigorous and Productive. Renowned for its strong, upright growth and early blooming habit. Its exceptionally sturdy stems make it a reliable cut flower for professional florists seeking architectural blooms that hold their shape well in large bouquets
