Desert Rose

The Desert Rose dahlia is a stunning 2024 introduction by renowned breeder Kristine Albrecht of Santa Cruz Dahlias. It is celebrated for its unique, color-shifting ombre effect and its ability to act as a resilient garden workhorse, particularly in cooler temperatures where its dusky rose tones truly shine.

• Color: Dark Pink (DP). A dynamic blend that shifts with the weather. In peak heat, blooms lean toward a saturated coral-red, but as the air cools, they transition into a romantic rose hue with "sandy rose" or soft apricot outer petals.
• Form: Formal Decorative (FD). Features high petal counts and perfectly rounded centers, creating a symmetrical and polished appearance.
• Bloom Size: Small (BB). Blooms typically range from 4 to 6 inches (10–15 cm) in diameter.
• Height: Medium to Tall. A sturdy grower that typically reaches 3.5 to 4.5 feet (105–135 cm) tall.
• Performance: High-Volume Garden Workhorse. Known for "pumping out a ton of flowers," it is a prolific bloomer with exceptionally strong stems. While it may occasionally produce open centers in extreme heat, it is highly regarded for its cut-flower quality and reliability in late-season palettes.
