The Cecil dahlia is a versatile and reliable variety, often described as a "quiet workhorse" by growers. It is a designer favorite for its early blooming habit, long, sturdy stems, and a warm, shifting color palette that blends seamlessly into both bright summer arrangements and moody autumn designs.
- Color: Light Blend (LB) or Bronze. A radiant, sunset-toned mix of coral, peach, and apricot with soft yellow or golden undertones. The color is known to shift throughout the season, sometimes appearing more raspberry or magenta, particularly on the backside of the petals
- Form: Formal Decorative (FD). Features neat, symmetrical layers of flat petals that create a full, structured bloom. ADS Classification: 4010.
- Bloom Size: Miniature (M). The dainty blooms typically measure between 2.5 to 3.5 inches (6–9 cm) in diameter, making them perfectly sized for boutonnieres and detailed bouquet work.
- Height: Medium to Tall. Grows robustly to a height of approximately 4 feet (120 cm), though some field conditions may see it range between 2.5 and 4.5 feet.
- Performance: Highly Productive & Early Bloomer. Celebrated for being one of the first dahlias to bloom in the garden and continuing to produce high-quality, cut-worthy flowers until the first frost. It is also noted for its disease resistance and fast-growing tubers.
