The Caitlin's Joy dahlia is a stunning and reliable variety, believed to be a sport of the famous maroon dahlia 'Cornel' (or 'Ivanetti') and discovered by the Geerlings family. It is celebrated for its "chameleon" color shifts and its role as a productive "workhorse" in both cutting gardens and professional floral design.
- Color: Dark Blend (DB) / Pink. A complex, iridescent blend of raspberry, magenta, and smoky pink, often featuring a muted apricot or golden heart near the center. The colors intensify into brighter raspberry tones as the weather cools in autumn.
- Form: Miniature Ball (MB). Tightly spiraled petals form a perfect, geometric sphere with remarkable neatness. ADS Classification: 6113.
- Bloom Size: Miniature (M). Dainty, picture-perfect blooms typically measuring 2 to 3.5 inches (5–9 cm) in diameter.
- Height: Tall. A vigorous, upright plant that generally reaches 3.5 to 5 feet (105–150 cm) in height.
- Performance: Exceptionally Productive Workhorse. Highly praised for its tireless productivity and durable blooms on long, sturdy stems. It is weather-resistant, easy to divide, and produces an abundance of flowers that hold their form exceptionally well in vases and bouquets.
