The Burfoot Desert Rose (also known as BF Desert Rose) is a uniquely colored and highly reliable variety introduced in 2024 by Mara & Noll of Burfoot Flowers in Thurston County, Washington. It is celebrated for its "master palette blender" qualities and its effortless ability to complement both warm and cool floral designs.
- Color: Muted Blend / Earthy. An intricate, shifting mix of rosy-brown, "coffee crema" tan, and soft mauve, with a distinctive rich raspberry or dark mauve reverse. Shady conditions tend to pull out softer pastel tones, while full sun intensifies the richer coffee and raspberry hues.
- Form: Formal Decorative (FD). A classic, full-bodied bloom with consistently closed centers and neatly arranged petals.
- Bloom Size: Miniature (M). Blooms typically range from 3.5 to 4 inches (9–10 cm) in diameter.
- Height: Tall. A vigorous plant that generally reaches 4.5 to 6 feet (135–180 cm) tall depending on the growing environment.
- Performance: Multitasking Powerhouse. Praised as a prolific bloomer that does not require constant disbudding. It is a florist's favorite for its long, slender, and sturdy stems that provide excellent structure for bouquets and market work.
