The Bracken Rose (North American) dahlia—often referred to as 'Bracken Ruse' to distinguish it from its Australian namesake—is a beloved floral designer favorite. It is celebrated for its "antique" romantic coloring and its status as a prolific "workhorse" that blends seamlessly with popular varieties like 'Cafe au Lait'.
- Color: Pink (PK) / Smoky Mauve. A sophisticated "ballet slipper" or dusty rose-pink with milky-chocolate undertones and darker magenta stems. The color is stable but can appear more saturated with rosy "flashbacks" on the petals depending on the light.
- Form: Ball (BA) or Formal Decorative (FD). While often classified as a Ball due to its tight, spherical structure and 45° up-facing blooms, some growers also list it as a Formal Decorative. ADS Classification: 6005 (Ball).
- Bloom Size: Miniature to Small (M/BB). Blooms are perfectly sized for bouquets, typically measuring 3 to 3.5 inches (7.5–9 cm) in diameter.
- Height: Medium to Tall. A vigorous grower that reaches approximately 3 to 4.5 feet (90–140 cm) tall.
- Performance: Highly Productive Cut Flower. Renowned for its exceptional tuber production and long, strong stems, this variety "pumps out" blooms all season long. Its neutral, dusky tones and reliable 5-to-7-day vase life make it a staple for wedding work and high-end arrangements.
