The Bracken Joan dahlia is a beautiful and romantic variety bred by Neville Naumann of Bracken Ridge, Australia, in 1996. It is cherished for its soft, pastel tones and is considered a quintessential "wedding dahlia" due to its elegant form and long, reach-for-the-sky stems.
- Color: Lavender (L) / Blush Pink. A soft, "candyfloss" pink or blush that often transitions into lavender as the season cools. The petals are frequently tipped with white, giving the bloom a delicate, glowing appearance.
- Form: Formal Decorative (FD). Features a classic, tidy arrangement of broad, flat petals that create a full and balanced bloom. ADS Classification: 3008.
- Bloom Size: Miniature or Small (M/BB). While often classified as a miniature (up to 4 inches), some growers see blooms reach up to 5–6 inches (12–15 cm) depending on conditions.
- Height: Tall. A robust and vigorous grower that typically reaches 4 to 5 feet (120–150 cm) in height.
- Performance: Superior Cut Flower. Highly productive with exceptionally long, strong stems and a great vase life of over 8 days. It is widely used by florists for dreamy, pastel-inspired bouquets and high-end event work.
