The Beehive dahlia (often spelled Bee Hive) is a radiant and cheerful variety hybridized by Nicholas Gitts and introduced by Swan Island Dahlias in 2024. It is celebrated for its glowing, honey-like appearance and its incredible resilience—having impressively passed at all eight ADS Trial Gardens with high scores before its release.
- Color: Bronze (BR) / Peach. A warm, rich bronze-orange that resembles a glowing honeycomb, often showing soft peach or golden-apricot tones as the petals spiral outward.
- Form: Miniature Ball (MB). A tightly packed, perfectly spherical bloom with uniform petals that create a dense and symmetrical "beehive" structure.
- ADS Classification: 6111 (Miniature Ball, Bronze).
- Bloom Size: Miniature (M). Petite and robust blooms typically measure approximately 3.5 inches (9 cm) in diameter.
- Height: Tall. A vigorous and sturdy grower that typically reaches 3.5 to 4.5 feet (105–140 cm) in height.
- Performance: Strong and Prolific Workhorse. Praised for its exceptionally sturdy stems and prolific blooming habit, it is considered an excellent cut flower for arrangements and a "crew favorite" for its reliability throughout the season.
