The Appleblossom (or "Apple Blossom") dahlia is an incredibly sweet and popular variety hybridized in Holland in 1986. It is a cult favorite among wedding florists and gardeners alike for its romantic, watercolor-like appearance and its ability to attract local pollinators.
- Color: Yellow/Blush (YL/PK). The petals start as a soft, creamy buttercream yellow at the base and transition into a delicate blush-pink or rose at the tips. The inner "collar" of petaloids often displays similar soft flecks of pink.
- Form: Collarette (CO). A single row of flat outer petals surrounding a central "collar" of smaller petaloids and an open, pollen-rich disc. ADS Classification: 9010 (though sometimes listed as 9015 depending on the specific color blend registry
- Bloom Size: Miniature (M). Blooms are typically refined and measure approximately 3 to 4 inches (7.5–10 cm) in diameter.
- Height: Tall. This variety is a vigorous grower, typically reaching heights of 4 to 5 feet (120–150 cm).
- Performance: Prolific and Pollinator-Friendly. A highly productive re-bloomer that stays strong until the end of the season. While it has fairly sturdy stems, it is best used as an "event flower" in floral design due to the naturally shorter vase life typical of collarette forms (approximately 5 days).
