The Alloway Candy dahlia is a vintage and exceptionally graceful variety hybridized by Jock Stitt in New Zealand in 1970. It is highly prized by wedding florists and garden enthusiasts for its unique star-like shape and delicate "cotton candy" color palette, making it a "sweet" addition to any high-end floral design.

  • Color: Pink (PK). A soft, luminous "cotton candy" pink that often features an ombre effect, transitioning from marshmallow-white or creamy ivory at the center to a deeper mid-pink at the petal tips
  • Form: Stellar (ST). A distinctive star-shaped bloom with long, straight petals that do not recurve toward the stem as much as other varieties, providing a clean and architectural look. ADS Classification: 7004
  • Bloom Size: Small (ST). Refined blooms typically measure between 3 and 5 inches (7.5–12 cm) in diameter.
  • Height: Medium to Tall. A vigorous grower that typically reaches 3.5 to 4 feet (105–120 cm) in height.
  • Performance: Early and Productive Cutter. Renowned as one of the earliest varieties to bloom, it produces "top-notch" cut flowers on long, firm, and sturdy stems. It is a reliable and prolific producer of both flowers and easy-to-manage "pencil-like" tubers throughout the season.
